The grant from Telstra Kids has enabled high school students in robotics Team 3132 to build a well-designed robot that has proven successful in a number of competitions. The grant helped to purchase tools and equipment that the students used to design and construct mechanical and electrical components for the 2015 robot, named "Kosciuszko".
The team's success in the Australian regional and later the Hawaiian regional FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) led them being invited to the world championships in St Louis, Missouri, USA in May. Beyond all expectations the team won their divisional competition and so moved on the finals where they competed with the best teams from across the world in front of a crowd of 42,000. Needless to say, the team were thrilled with their result!
Thanks Telstra Kids for helping us inspire the next generation of robotics experts!
